I wanted to Thank all of you for your prayers and encouragement. Jodi is having a bad time now. Her pain has come back with a vengeance and her fatigue is worse than ever. We have been praying for wisdom for Michael and Jodi in their decision about future treatment. This is the first time I have seen Jo really discouraged and without alot of fight to get better. As I read Jodi's update it just brings her day to day battle to light. I told a friend recently that Jo gets up every morning and plans what she needs to do to get through the day. My heart breaks when at almost 65 years old I can work rings around my daughter. BUT! we continue to Praise and give Thanks for the good times. Jo was able to go to church Sunday and she had a great fellowship on Sat. with her dear friend, Rhonda. Plus, she was able to see Meg's volleyball game and Ry's football game. Jodi- wow! what an inspiration you are! I have had others tell me that they admire my strength, faith and the fact that I continue to smile through all of this. I have to admit, however, that just like the song "the warrior is a child", last night, for the first time ever, I asked my husband when enough was enough- that I knew that I had eternal salvation, but "isn't it time to admit defeat here in the physical realm?"- I mentioned all the ways the enemy has attacked me relentlessly all of my life. I was weary. Yet my spirit didn't agree- and today I prayed for forgiveness for even "going there"- I realized Christ never gave up but gave His all- even unto death on a cross! Then, I read your updates written even during your treatments- what a reminder to stay strong- to know His Grace gets us through! After visisting the ER this week in level 10 pain-along w/several other health trials within this last month- I eagerly await the chance to go to SIMC as well. I know it will be hard- but like you know the Lord walks through the fire with us! And knowing it is worth it- that instead of just going from bad to worse- it is going through pain for a purpose of healing and restoration- that will be the difference! Hi Jodi, Just read your news that you are home now from the clinic. We met you at the clinic back in April. We are from New Zealand. Do you remember us? Chris went back to the clinic and was there for 5 weeks again till Aug. 28 so he has been home a few weeks. His last two darkfields showed no lyme but now that he is home his pains are as bad as ever. My heart is with you and I can just feel you during these pushes. But OH! my Jodi, what a difference this time compared to last time. We all have alot to be thankful for, Ry said it all, "God is Good". The children are doing good. Mia said last night that she didn't think she'd go to school today but I did what you do, I waited and let her come around on own, she went. Ry did stay home until 10AM, he just didn't feel up to it until he talked to Dad and then decided to go in later. Think maybe football practice and Steelers game had something to do with it. What do Think?? Meg was better today, her cough seemed clearer and our Lizzy, OH! my heart, this child is YOU. She was up and ready by 7 (now that wasn't you). Well, it was a very rough night last night for Jodi. She had increased her treatment strength and she felt it!! We are letting her sleep in this AM because she was up much of the night. Please keep her in your prayers today as she has the black screen and that will tell if she is free of those things in her (don't know how to spell them). She won't have to take a higher dose of treatment tonight if she is clear. I know that she is so much better than she was on her first trip here but there is still a road ahead for her. Jodi- I know I already signed your guest book-wanted to add after reading some of your updates that I hear there is a dental clinic in Wichita w/the necessary dental "ventilation-hood" necessary to remove mercury fillings. Apparently, suicide rates are high among dentists due to working around mercury- something like that??? Hi Jodi, I have just finished reading your entire updates and admire you for staying strong and continuing your treatment. I can only imagine how hard it must have been (and still is). I, too, have been diagnosed with Lyme (Jan. 09) and returned from Sierra Int. just last week for yet another opinion in how to treat this. I did 3 detox IV's, had more bloodwork done and I'm just waiting to hear back from them. I prayed 2 nights ago for God to give me a BIG sign as to what I should do (go back to SIMC or not). And the very next day I found your website by searching for info on Sierra. My prayer was answered!! I found one other encouraging "letter" too. I hope you are still improving and things are going well for you and your family. (No update since Aug. 6th) Thank you so much for your website...God is working through you and you are an amazing woman. I have a 9 yr old son and a 13 month old son! And I am 45!!!! you are still a baby (hehe). Anyway, point is...it will be very hard to leave them too! I have been struggling with this for about 10 years now and have seen numerous docs. Hello Jodi and Friends, Tina and I were at the clinic with Jodi and her Mom. Having never met we quickly became friends in a journey for health. A quick scan of Jodi's updates She writes for her friends and family to pray for strength that she can perservier through her treatments. Jodi, just want you to know that I'm really lifting you up in prayer today as you receive your test results. Good Morning Jodi, We are praising God for your good day yesterday and hopefully your night was not too rough. Truly an answer to prayer that they were able to use a vein in the right arm. Keep hydrating!! Loved your story about Mia. When we were with her she was adamant that Daddy wake her in the morning. Every night she reminded Pappie not to wake her because she wanted Daddy to wake her up. So he would go around waking Ryan, Meagan and Elizabeth but Daddy had the pleasure of waking miss Mia. So cute!! I know that it is very important to her that her Mommy wake her up because that means all is well in Mia's world. Good morning, today is laundry day.  Yes, I still have to wash clothes. When Jo and I first came out here, it was suppose to be for two weeks. We're now going on five and with the same clothes. Hey, girl! Just checking in to say hi and I'm praying lots for you! Had to tell you a cute one about Mia! We had Teddy Bear day today and it was fun! Everyone brought a stuffed bear or animal in and we snuggled with them, played games, read stories with them and had a Teddy Bear Picnic. Lots of fun and kept her busy and happy. Anyway, she brought in a little purple pony for her animal. I asked her if her pony had a name and she grinned and said, "Yes, I named her Elizabeth George!" LOL! We are continuing to pray for you here in the classroom. Elizabeth was the class helper today. She looked so beautiful with her pretty springlike dress, a necklace that you had given her, and a hairdo that I'm sure Meagan had fixed for her. When she lead the pledges she looked so professional, so serious. She is such a joy here in the classroom. She counted the days on the calendar till you can come home, but she has had such a positive attitude about your being gone, at least here in the classroom. I know you would be so proud of her. Eight more days, if you're counting. I do hope that the treatments are being successful in destroying all those little spores so that you can totally be free of this disease. We finished reading about Adoniram Judson today in class and it finishes with this quote "The future is as bright as the promises of God". I agree with Tony, as usual. Something he left off though, do you remember in Star Wars when Obi Wan told Luke to trust his feelings right before he blew up the Death Star. Ahhhh, to be "in love": I was privileged to have a young couple, single, and in love (in their 20's) over for lunch...They are in the throws of the emotional roller coaster...(remember?)trying to carve out time to see eachother, share their desires and even fears.....I found myself smiling so much my face hurt by the time they left! Dearest Jodi... Cory gave me your website and I am moved as I hear and understand better what is going on in your life to write you. The words "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" from Ps. 139 strike a mental picture as I veiwed the medical clip on Lyme's disease. The set of checks and balances within the human body is a wondrous thing. Yet, "an enemy" can wreak havoc within the system. What a wonderful picture of the spiritual battle we encounter everyday! What is the reason for "affliction" in our bodies? I think the psalmist gives us a glimpse in Ps. 119:71-76 "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Thy statutes. The law of Thy mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Thy hands made me and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn Thy commandments. May those who fear Thee, see me and be glad, because I wait for Thy word. I know, O Lord, that Thy judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness Thou hast afflicted me. O may Thy lovingkindness comfort me, according to Thy word to Thy servant." Hey Jodi, well there goes another example of God not needing my advice!!!!!!! Before time began, God was in control but in 1945 He got an advisor!!!! How did He do it with out me telling Him how things should be???? Not only were you NOT in church with your family, God gave me a gentle reminder of Who is in charge by seating your family right in front of me!!!!!!!!! You would have been proud of them, they all looked so great...well most of them... Michael still looked like Michael!!!! Tell Sue I have really been praying for her. As parents, when there is something wrong with our children there is no close 2nd problem. This must be so hard on her. I know she would MUCH rather be doing the suffering than to watch her daughter go through so much. Had a delightful afternoon with Mia! :-) We kept very busy--McDonalds, playdough, puzzles, games, coloring, reading, short dvd. She smiled lots and was happy all afternoon. She was excited to have Brittany take her home and I know she is in good hands. We will definitely do this again another day this week. I think tomorrow she wants to try AAC. I will stick close next door and make sure she is settled before I leave though! Michael, I have her lunch and snack covered tomorrow, if that makes your life easier. Meagan even put a note in her snack today that just thrilled her. What a sweet sister! :-) You would be proud, Jodi--they are doing great! Hope today was OK. Many prayers being lifted for all of you. Thank you Tony Ways!!!!! I felt like I was sitting next to my family, listening to Rod Share God's Word. It meant so much to Jo too. (Tony was able to have the service come over Jo's phone). What a beautiful morning God has provided. I'm praying for a quiet, restful, and joyful weekend. Jo had a very rough time last night--chills, pain, fever, and the worst part, a terrible headache. I kept putting cold presses on her neck and forehead, but nothing would help. It let up after several hours and she did go to sleep. She's still resting, which she needs. Mia called this morning and told me it's morning here - why aren't you up?. We're two hours behind them. I miss those babies and can't wait to hold them. "Amazing Grace"....Jim and I heard the "sweet sound" this morning on a radio program that dedicated their 30min program to playing different renditions of the hymn the LORD gave to John Newton, a slave trader that became, through God's grace, a slave/servant, of Jesus. Did you know there are over 6,400 renditions of this, truly, "Amazing" hymn???? My favorite renditon was done, solo, on violin, with a country fiddle effect, and I could picture a person, out on their cabin porch, facing the Smoky Mountains, the mist just rising to start the new day, his first thoughts, being expressed, by playing to the LORD of creation and salvation. After hearing so much of "Amazing Grace", believe it or not, another hymn came immediately to my mind. I guess it is because the more you realize God's grace the more your heart says, "More About Jesus Would I know: "More about Jesus would I know, More of His grace to others show; More of His saving fullness see, More of His love Who died for me. Natalie and Seth loved playing with them. We made Resurrection Rolls together, the kids played b-ball, spy girls, enjoyed time outside and did lots of laughing. Jodi had a higher level shot today.  She's in bed with five blankets, 3 comforters, hat, gloves, sweats, socks; all that and she's still cold. But, this is good because we know the meds are doing the job they're suppose to do. Not sure what the next reaction is going to be tonight, as every shot reacts different (I hear her in there singing Praise Songs.) The people that we have encountered during these weeks have their own stories as to how and why they're here. Today a young mom of five is starting treatment and has her six year old with her (don't know how she's going to do it) and with no car here (we gave her a ride to the place they're staying). Its a hardship on all of them here--insurance doesn't pay--plus the out of pocket expense. We have met many believers and have a prayer network going.  Jodi and I are so grateful for our faithful prayer warriors and we do feel the blessings of all the prayers. I'm thankful she has the weekend to catch her breath. I need it too. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. In Him, Sue

Julie Uebelein and our daughter Penny were classmates and good friends here in Cedar Falls. Penny has just completed her third chemo treatment of twelve for colon cancer. Dearest Jodi, Thank you for sending me the link to this website. I spent half the day yesterday reading EVERY post and doing a little Lyme disease research. I'm so proud of my grandchildren. After hearing their mom will be staying another two weeks-they told her "we don't like it but we understand". Just know that we all continue to pray that you will cling to the Lord, even in the middle of the hurt, and that He will give you courage and strength. Jesus, our RISEN Savior, is able to do all that we ask or even think.....He is ALIVE that we might LIVE unto newness of LIFE! Jodi, you may still have some "babies" contending for your cells, but they can never destroy the new creation you are. Hey Jodi, as I sat in church yesterday across from your family, my prayer was "Please Lord, let this be the last Sunday this beautiful little family has to be here apart from their mother." You are SO MISSED!!! Ruth and I were laughing a bit at you and your Mom. We could not begin to imagine the drop in sunshine when you guys leave that place!!!!! I'm sure your mom has EVERYONE organized, comforted, and doing things they had no intentions of doing. Believe me, that is experience speaking. NO ONE should have that much energy and organization!!!! :):) She is great!!! I have always told Rod, it's too bad she's a woman! The church would really kick it up a notch if we could hire her as the administrator!!!! Things were good at church yesterday. I'm so ready for Rod to come home. He really wants Carman to come but she's not sure about coming. I told him this is a whole different church than the one she left. I'm studying the book of Colossians and one thought that keeps popping up over and over, Paul is in this terrible prison and yet he has such a grateful spirit and his whole concern is for the churches. Good Morning Jodi & Sue! God continually brings you and the family to my mind throughout the day. Brad surveyed the Book of Psalms last night. He mentioned the Lamenting Psalms and that when David and the Psalmist lamented and these problems they were lamenting about had probably been going on for awhile. Jodi, how neat. Debbie finally hooked me up to your site and now I don't have to get second hand info. Yesterday I told my ladies in Bible study I am so glad I have a God I CAN'T understand. Good Morning sweet daughter and I do hope that this is a good morning for you. I know that today will be tough with the step up in treatment but the Lord is with you and He is holding your hand through this day. It was so good to hear your voice on the web cam last night. You sounded so encouraged and positive. I know that there is no change yet in the pain but....there is such hope for change. Hey, friend. I hope today went well. I have been praying lots. I had a great conversation with Michael and his dad today when they came to get Mia. What a blessing to have those two fine gentlemen in your life! I know they are doing a fantastic job of keeping things running at home! Mia had a super day--I made sure she had extra hugs and cuddles, and she was full of smiles. We acted out the story of the Good Samaritan today and she made a wonderful Samaritan! So full of tenderness and concern for the "wounded" man (Kathryn)! :-) It was precious. Meagan, Ryan, and Elizabeth all peeked in at one time or another today to smile and say hello to her. They are all looking out for each other. You should be so proud. May the Lord be your strength and shield, may your heart trust in Him. I know He will help you. (Psalm 28:7) Love you!

I thought you would be encouraged that today the little I saw while walking around the room, it looks like Elizabeth is doing a great job! You are right about Elizabeth. Jodi, Sounds like it is beautiful there. Mike and I, Erika and Jake taught the 4-5's today. Mia looked very cute. We took them outside for awhile. I gave her a big hug and snuggled her close and asked her if she had talked to you yet. She said she had and that she was having fun with her grandparents. She did great during class. We talked about the 6th day of Creation today and talked about how God made people. They made a collage of people with magazine cut-outs. It was fun! I did not see anyone else in the family since we were downstairs the whole time, except for Lizzie who picked her up from class. She was taking care of her little sister! As you look at that gorgeous scenery, meditate on Psalm 19:1-6 and Psalm 8!

I am going to call Elizabeth and congradulate her on taking care of the Dill...;it is showing her it is happy! Jim and I were greeters today; talked with Megan and grandma, Linda...they both looked good and had smiles (!). Pastor Rod spoke on the three enemies we all have, as believers,....the world, the flesh and the devil....Then he proceeded to give examples of each....the key to guarding our responses, to each "enemy"is to ask the LORD, does this draw me to You or away from You????? Also he even went into TV viewing and asked the question.,"Would you invite these characters, in the shows you may be watching, into your home to influence your family, you, etc????? Sports, was another issue he zeroed in on...."Moderation" was key word here. Well, this proves ,to you both, that Jim and I went to church today!!! We missed both of you!!!!
